Pastel and charcoal are probably the most difficult to work with but the most fun because of the expressive nature you can convey with a single stroke. You can quickly create the illusion of three dimensionality or the warmth of flesh from the colors used. I enjoyed working with these mediums and will continue to work in them for these reasons. In the illustration below you can see what I mean and most of these were created in a very short time. Sometimes in a single setting of the model or sometimes 5 min. or less. Remember spontaneity is key to true creativeness.

This pastel was done during a course I was taking at Bakersfield college and  was done in about five minutes. I enjoyed drawing her so much due to her outgoing nature and the fact that she's a fellow artist at heart. I think when drawing a model he or she must be mentally in tune or it makes it difficult for those sketching to feel comfortable enough to focus on the task at hand. Another aspect that I also noticed was the fact that the emotions being felt by the model showed in my work.

Below is a collection of my most recent work check back often for updates.
